Carpe Diem – Seize the Day!
The need is great and immediate. We are trying to prevent Monroe County and the surrounding area from becoming a Marcellus Shale gas drilling zone with all of the incumbent problems: industrial frack fluid spills; air, water, and noise pollution; frequent truck and motor vehicle accidents and reduced property values.
The donations are used for legal fees, and efforts to lobby the State and National Governments on pending legislation related to gas drilling. The money is used to educate local officials and the general public on the dangers of gas drilling especially in a karst geological formation. Donated funds are also used to bolster efforts to monitor water quality and flow rates of our rivers and streams. Gas drilling in a karst region has never been done in West Virginia. We must keep the gas companies from gambling with our resources.
